Can't Stay Dead

Tongue-tied words of disappointment
Stitched up lies to shame your daughter
Her skies are darker now
Her eyes are lower now
No breath in the flood of separation
The disease is more than color
We're separated from our Lover
We cannot fake our friends
or fight until the death
We can't stay dead
We can't stay dead
We can't stay dead
We still stand above oppression
Above the lies that chain our wrists
We can be stronger now
Break out of the pattern somehow
There’s hope for the kingdom of our freedom
We are idiots to Love
Complacent with confusion and fear
We don't like to admit that hate still exists
Hemmed up in our skin
